Megan Wright at nationals and Greg Roeth info. too

Posted Wednesday, November 24, 2010 by Mike Hout
Megan ran #3 for the University of Toledo squad at the NCAA Division I nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 22nd.  She was just a few tenths behind the #2 runner for UT.  Their #1 runner Ari Fisher finished 26th which made her an All-American!  As a team the Toledo harriers finished 28th, which is very respectable but maybe a few spots behind their goal of 25th place.  It was a warm day to run but very windy.  I am anxious to hear Megan's recap about the meet.

As reported before, Megan Wright stunned some people with a sixth place finish in the Mid American Conference.  She made all conference and was the fastest freshman in the MAC.  She was the #2 runner for her Toledo team and they won the meet with a school record for lowest number of points!  Her 21:04 time was 33 seconds faster than her previous best at the pre-nationals in Terre Haute.

If she ran even splits, she would have come through the 5K in 17:34 and kept that pace up for another 1,000 meters!  That is nearly a minute faster than she ever ran at MHS and then she kept it going for over another half mile!  Terrific running, Megan.  That is fantastic!!!  Good luck at the nationals.

The University of Dayton website reports that Greg Roeth also made all conference with his 8th place finish.  He was the fastest freshman last year and this year he was the fastest sophomore!  His time?  It was a sizzling 24:53!  We hope he continues to do well the rest of season and has great races heading to the nationals.
