In case the link above doesn't work very well you can read the text portion of the article below.....

Even though Jordan Townsley is still getting used to longer distances and has been hampered by an injury, Miamisburg’s freshman cross country runner is ably filling the void left by the program’s record-holder.

Megan Wright was a Viking standout for four years in cross country and track, and is now a scholarship runner at the University of Toledo. She graduated from Miamisburg with school records in cross country (18:30) and in the 1,600 (5:07). She was a state qualifier in both sports.

Townsley has filled the team’s top spot most of the season and is running times faster than Wright in her freshman season. Wright ran third on the team her freshman season behind Lauren Lunsford and Sam Condron, finishing strong with a 19:44 in the district championships.

Townsley won the Miamisburg Invitational, finishing 30 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher. Her 19:45 at Tiffin is the sixth-fastest time in the Greater Western Ohio Conference South.

“This is all very exciting because she is just getting over a hip injury,” Vikings coach Jen Schoenberger said. “I haven’t been able to properly train her due to the injury.”

The coach expects continued improvement from Townsley as she grows accustomed to the longer race.

Jordan is a speedster,” Schoenberger said. “She excels in the shorter distances, like in track the 800 and 1,600. She has had to get used to pacing herself the first two miles of the cross country race. She is an extremely talented runner and definitely filling the void of (Megan).”

Townsley has benefited from a more experienced runner pushing her. Senior Jenna Parlette has been right on her heels most of the year with a best time of 19:47. Parlette won the Franklin Invitational.

Wright joins strong local contingent

Megan Wright has joined some familiar faces at the University of Toledo, which may have its most talented team in the program’s history.

The freshman from Miamisburg is part of a recruiting class that features four of the top eight runners from last year’s Ohio high school championships.

At her first meet when Rocket freshmen and sophomores ran against Bowling Green’s varsity, Wright finished third. Her time of 18:30 matched her school record at Miamisburg.

Wright is now among a talented group of runners from the Greater Western Ohio Conference, including former Viking teammate Sam Condron. The sophomore wasn’t a varsity runner last year, but has shown considerable improvement this season.

Other Rocket teammates are Lebanon sisters Ari and Ali Fisher.

Ari Fisher is the defending champion in the Mid-American Conference. She was the team’s top finisher in every race last year as a sophomore. She qualified for the NCAA championships and missed All-American status by less than one second.

Toledo is the preseason favorite to win the MAC championship.
