Finally - the Alliance results are online! How many personal records can one team get in a meet?

Posted Sunday, September 18, 2011 by Mike Hout
We waited a long long time for those Alliance Invitational marks.  They said it would only be 15 minutes after the race for the results to appear.  It seemed like it was more like 15 hours!!!  Anyway, it is great to finally have all the information because there is a lot of good information to share!

First of all, condolences go out to Annie Peters.  She missed her pr by .26.  Arghh!  But if you think that is bad, consider this.  Elliott Zech missed his pr by .08 of a second.  That is eight hundredths!  A sneeze takes longer than that!!!

Congrats to Brandon Tollett and Chris Felts.  They both pr'd by nearly three minutes.  Billy Scheid, Noah Leighton and Nate Myers dropped a minute off their bests.  Ethan Leighton said he was nervous before the varsity race then went out and dropped another 30 seconds off his best.....all the way down to 18:32!  Josh Boxer improved his fastest time by a minute and a half.  Cody Callison, Nick Ferrara and Bailey England sliced a minute off their best.  Jake Knox dropped more time and is looking more and more like a distance runner.  Cole Supp also pr'd and took off another 15 seconds from his best.  Corey Dillon took off five key seconds from his pr.

How about the girls team?  The top 4 runners all had personal bests.......and they now move up the all time Miamisburg list.  Congrats to Jordan Townsley, Jayme Mettle, Anna Flores, and Rachel Flores.  Stephanie Mee only missed her all-time best by a few seconds and you already heard about Annie Peters and missing her pr by a mere .26.

The 20:39 average for the top five runners moves them up to some great teams in school history.  There is the fantastic team of 2007 (20:07 at regionals), the 2008 squad (20:35 at districts), the surprising 2006 team (20:38) and now our 2011 team is on their heels.  Great work, girls.

Other personal bests include a five minute improvement by Heather Francis; a two and a half minute drop by Loren Patak;  a two minute improvement by Aileen Wada; a one minute drop by Grace Steingass, Angelica Mullen and Kristina Steingass; and a twenty second drop by Rachel Hamlett and Kennedy Peters.  Whew!

I count 25 all-time personal bests at the Alliance meet.....and it was almost 27!!!  Who did I miss?
