Franklin Invitational with lots of ribbons, medals and two trophies!

Posted Tuesday, September 27, 2011 by Mike Hout
They called for rain today and it looked like it would cut loose with a downpour on several occasions.  Instead of running any JV races they jammed everyone into two varsity races.  Despite the gloomy weather outlook, we got both races in without any rain.  The course was in much better condition than anticipated.  It turned out to be a good day for a run and our Miamisburg runners came to show their stuff.

Big congrats go to our girls who totally outclassed everyone else with a mere 22 points.  The boys held out the top two runners (Melko and Mullen) and finished second but almost won the meet.  It was good to see everyone compete so hard and it was good to see a happy Stebbins crew with their championship trophy for the boys.  They were pretty excited about it.  Fairborn girls were pretty excited, too, with their second place finish.

Annie Peters may have had one of the best races of both squads as went out like a racer.  She dropped lots of time and ended up being #4 runner for the girls.  Jackie Richardson also had a personal best race and was #5 for the champion girls squad.  How thrilling to also see prs by Michelle Pressel (you can't spell Pressel without a pr), Rachel Hamlett, Kennedy Peters, Danielle Seni, Angelica Mullen, Alexis Williams, Aileen Wada and Heather Francis.

The boys ran some hard 1000's the day before the meet yet there were still some prs........like fast finishing Elliott Zech, Curtis Carmack, Cole Supp, Josh Boxer, Nick Ferrara, Bailey England, Chris Felts and Nate Myers.

That's 18 personal bests and lots of awards on a day that was supposed to be rainy and gloomy.  That doesn't sound too gloomy to me!

Now it is time turn our attention to the Fairmont Invitation this Saturday.
