Sept. 29th Neighbor Section of Dayton Daily News Says Future Bright For Viking Runners

Posted Thursday, September 29, 2011 by Mike Hout
This is the text of a 9/29/11 Dayton Daily News article in the Neighbors section:

The Miamisburg girls cross country team appears to be on the rise with an influx of young talent.  The Vikings have 27 runners out for the sport this fall, the most in program history.  The boost comes from 14 freshmen.

"The freshmen group looks to be very talented and is already making a huge impact on our team" said coach Jenny Schoenberger.

Three freshmen - Anna Flores, Jayme Mettle and Rachel Flores - are running in the top five.  Talented sophomore Jordan Townsley is back after a year of injuries.  Returning seniors Brittany Sumner and Stephanie Mee help guide the young team.

"We will definitely be a team to watch over the next four years with all of these freshmen girls," said Schoenberger.
