Fairmont Invitational and a haiku

Posted Saturday, October 01, 2011 by Mike Hout

A meet haiku:

The day was so cold
The wind blew so very fast
Goosebumps everywhere

Everyone gave it their best shot.  It certainly felt much colder than the 51 degrees my TV told me.  In the girls varsity race Jordan Townsley ran with the front pack and placed in the top five.  We could have really been hurt without the services of Jayme Mettle and Annie Peters but others stepped up quite nicely.  This list included Anna Flores, Stephanie Mee, Rachel Flores and rounding out the top five was a surprise Annie Sickinger with her best time of the year!  Rachel Hamlett went out and raced her way to a new pr which was very impressive on this muddy course.  Kristina Steingass led the way for the girls in the JV race and also had a personal best.

In the boys race the Stebbins runner (Moreno) took a big lead right from the start and forced Michael Melko and Quentin Mullen to race for second.  They both almost did that finishing with Mullen in third and Melko in fifth.  Curtis Carmack impressed with another sub 18 race and finished as our third man.    After so many races the course was quite a mess and slowed times considerably, yet somehow Bailey England ran a pr.  Go Bailey!!!

Here are the final results:

And here is our team's site for statistics.  Everyone has their own page!
