Focus on the positive - Cross Country team supporting soldiers

Posted Thursday, October 11, 2012 by Mike Hout
An article was in the neighborhood section recently about the Miamisburg cross-country team and miles to Afghanistan.  It is called "Walk to Afghanistan" and is organized by the U.S. Army 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.  It is a collective effort to walk, run, swim or bicycle 10,644 miles (the distance from the Brigade's home base of Fort Campbell, Ky. to Afghanistan).

"It's a symbolic gesture" said Nancy Ferrara, whose son, Nicholas, is on the cross country team.  Ferrara encouraged the Miamisburg cross country teams as well as the Dayton Team in Training to participate in the Walk to Afghanistan to support her nephew, First Lt. Daniel Drake.

The xc teams from Miamisburg have been logging their miles since September 17th.

A nice picture accompanied the article.  In the picture was Nick Ferra, Chris Felts and Quentin Mullen.
